If You Need Motivation To Keep Going, Focus On The Important Things

We know these are difficult times for everyone. Living paycheck to paycheck seems more like the norm than the rarity. Going to the grocery store is the Hunger Games 2.0 trying to save all that you can. Even the gas pump makes us hyperventilate.  It’s all becoming too much. But what will hurt even more is if you don’t move on an opportunity tailor made for you, you will forever regret what could’ve been. If I’m completely honest, times have been tough recently in every way you can imagine personally. The things I desire the most have yet to happen and while I wait and seek the spiritual promise, sometimes it feels like walking in the wilderness.  The slightest thing could irritate you. Seeing someone have what you prayed for, or getting a promotion due to nepotism would make anyone upset. But the key is to not focus on what hurts you, it is to focus on what helps you in the long run. I always say, if you find yourself doing what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. That’s where I am currently. Believing my lack will not be the end. As you all know or maybe not, I recently left corporate America and that has been challenging. Not knowing how financially I was going to achieve my current state. Checking to make sure I don’t overspend and always budget and limit certain things. Things I’ve never thought I had to think about. But here we are. Truth be told, though it may be scary, I keep going because I know what’s on the other side. It’s a joy that can’t be explained. It’s my passion. I knew as a believer, God wouldn’t leave me stranded. No way no how. But He also didn’t say it would be smooth sailing. Going after your dreams takes a lot of perseverance and dedication. No one is going to tell you when to get up and treat your passion like an everyday job. That’s you. No one is going to remind you to check emails and speak to people who you regularly pass by. That’s you.  That’s because it is work. One idea that has helped me in this process is trying to keep the main thing the main thing. Basically, cut out all the noise and focus on what is most important. Once that can be cemented, set another goal that will be a benefactor in your success. Continue to do so until you see the fruits of your labor. Remembering that distractions come from all sides and to minimize those, boundaries must be set. All in all, the journey is long and the finish line is out of distance at times. The big prize is never settling. Finding purpose where you are today can make the biggest change in your life tomorrow. Yes, I’m terrified, but I’m grateful. This journey is more than linear, it’s a push to show the little girl who had a dream that if she stays with it, her wildest dreams will be lived with her in it. Today, I surrender to it, so I say to myself, Kennedra, keep going.
